Kerry,
Great looking knife! I have always wondered if Tony or Reese would groove and round the bolsters on this particular model. Thanks for posting this.

I was going to guess the fluted bolsters.

First of all, a backpocket is usually 4.5" closed. If it was a millenium back pocket, it would be exactly 4" closed. The 4 1/8" is different.. Also, from what I can see, there doesn't seem to be a flushed joint. The true backpocket has a flushed joint and pinched bolsters as well.
Am I close?

I think just the 4.5 comes with the flush joint, not the 4 inch model. As I've said before, I like the fluted bolsters, and that bone is killer

Kerry,
My 4" stag BackPocket that I received from Tony a few months ago with the standard pinched bolsters is actually 4 1/8" closed, fwiw. (Just offered as an observation and not as a refutation of anything stated here.)

Here is another variation of the same knife with fluted and rounded bolsters that I was fortunate enough to acquire. The difference I believe is just the shield and lack of lanyard hole if compared to the brown bone version originally posted. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. It is always my goal to learn more.

Ok...ya got me with the #5 there Bob. From what I understand(and temporarily forgot)is that the serial numbering is for each type of handle material. I have no idea how many of these he has made totally. I ain't the official Bose historian...I just takes pitchez and postses 'em and says what the boss says to me.

Bob,
I can't speak in generalities but I know for sure that my 4" BP (or should I say 4 1/8" BP) made by Tony is not based on the Millennium Trapper but on a scaled down version of his 4.5" BP. (I know this because he told me so.

I was told the 4.5 was based on a Remington 1123, which had a flush joint. But I'm no expert either.

Everything you guys is sayin' I believe is true... I believe there are a number of variations on the theme .. Here is another full size back pocket with a blade like the 1123...

Just measured Tony's #5 in stag. It is exactly 4" closed.

Men, there is no official BackPocket knife. I call it that because I carry it in my back pocket. I have carried a larger knife there for over 40 years, lncluding factory folding hunters, bullets, dogsheads, daddy barlows as well as many variations of BPs I have made. I have made these with many different blades in them. One thing they have in common is they will all cut stuff.

Is a daddy barlow just is a larger version? I expect someone out there, (and you know who you are), has a nice picture of a daddy barlow.

Kerry,
It's OK. It's good that Tony ended it before people started hitting each other with their (knife) purses.

Thanks John. MRobuck just sent me some pics of some really nice old Henkels. Two things prevent me from sharing any barlow pics. The main being no barlow to take pics of.
